The Metal Age (some spoilers)
In Thief II: The Metal Age, we find Garrett is back in action after recovering from the events of the first game. Through stealth and spying, he discovers a conspiracy dealing with a corrupt sheriff and the leader of the religious sect known as the Mechanists, who build robots of steam and metal. Fortunately, he's managed to find some unlikely allies. We finally get to (briefly) see Garrett's apartment, and also the return of a certain associate from the first game.
