Hamilton

The cast recording of Hamilton features the songs of the muscial, performed by the actors who originated the roles on Broadway. The album won a Grammy in 2016 for Best Musical Theater Album. Hamilton's soundtrack is famous for its mix of hip-hop stylings and traditional Broadway sounds, as well as its casting of people of color in the roles of the founding fathers of the United States of America. In the words of creator and writer Lin-Manuel Miranda, "This is a story about America then, told by America now."

The main performers on the album include Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton; Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr; Phillipa Soo as Elizabeth Schyuler Hamilton; Christopher Jackson as George Washington; Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler Church; Daveed Diggs as the Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson; Jonathan Groff as King George III; Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds; Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan and James Madison; and Anthony Ramos as John Laurens and Philip Hamilton.
